Volunteering with Pentland District

All our activities are run by volunteers, who might join us because they want to:

  • Try something new

  • Make friends

  • Spend time with their children – or gain experience with young people

  • Do something good for their community and themselves

  • Keep their bodies and brains active and happy – whether that's by scaling mountains, sharing skills or serving tea

All end up making a huge difference to young people's lives – gifting them with skills for life, and learning a whole lot about themselves along the way.

If you want to stretch yourself and meet new people, why not look at some of our fabulous volunteering opportunities in Pentland District.

Current vacancies

It would not be an exaggeration to say that we always have vacancies for adult volunteers to become leaders and assistants.

However, we don't just need people to keep our young people safe, and help them enjoy activities. We also have opportunities for "backroom" volunteers to help with the smooth running of the whole operation.

Currently we have the following specific vacancies:

  • Training administrator - Someone to help encourage our leaders to do their training and ensure they have the right skills to look after our young people. This is more about checking membership records, and ensuring people send in validation to prove they have done training than actually training them, or even understanding Scouting. Would suit a spreadsheet minded person with persuasive email abilities.

  • Executive roles - 98th Pentland at Oxgangs needs new blood to replace some of the long serving members of their group executive who would like to retire. If you have any skills as a treasurer, secretary, or chair, then please get in touch.
